Polnep, UCTS Malaysia to Boost Partnertship

Cooperation is an integral part of the overall activity in universities. It is nearly impossible for them to conduct their duties, Three Missions (Tri Dharma) of Higher Education, without creating partnership with others. Those partnerships are made in the effort to accelerate as well as to complete the implementation of the Tri Dharma itself. In order to realize its vision and mission, becoming the best and trusted vocational higher education both in national and international level, Pontianak State Polytechnic (Polnep) has made partnership one of essential efforts to reach that.

On Wednesday, 23 August 2017, Director of Polnep, Muhammad Toasin Asha received the visit of his counterparts from University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) led by Prof. Dr. Ir. A. Razak Bin Yaacob of School of engineering & Technology (SET) Electrical and Engineering Program and Dr. Yong Ching Yee, a Senior Lecturer of School of Engineering and Technology. The meeting of two universities was a follow-up of the MoU signed on 23 June 2015. In his brief welcoming speech, Director of Polnep revealed his expectation concerning the follow-up activity after MoU signing with UCTS. “The further action must be related with the implementation of Tri Dharma. One of key points to create an advanced university is having a strong network with other institutions,” he said.

In the meantime, Polnep’s Coordinator of International Office, Muhammad Ali, said that it was essential for Polnep to cooperate with foreign universities in order to enhance its competitiveness and academic capacity. “It is also counted as our effort to go to international stage,” he added.

The meeting was taken place at the Director’s meeting room. Some Polnep’s officials attended the event, including the International Office Coordinator, Muhammad Ali. Meanwhile, UCTS representatives utilized the moment to introduce some of their study programs and facilities. Furthermore, UCTS also had a brief tour around Polnep’s laboratories and other facilities. “We are amazed to see the workshops and labs owned by Pontianak State Polytechnic,” said Prof. Ir. Dr. A. Razak Bin Yaacob and Dr. Yong Ching Yee to Director Asha at the end of the brief tour.
